<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor for a photoelectric conversion material, a photoelectric conversion element, and a solar battery which exhibit high photoelectric conversion efficiency and superior stability. <P>SOLUTION: The semiconductor for the photoelectric conversion material contains a heterocyclic compound expressed by a general formula (1). In the formula (1), R<SB>1</SB>, R<SB>2</SB>expresses a hydrogen atom or a substituent separately. When n is 2 or more, in a cyclic unit, R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>may be different from each other, and R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>may form a ring. When n is 2 or more in an adjoining cyclic unit, R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>1</SB>, or R<SB>2</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>may form a ring between them. R<SB>3</SB>expresses the hydrogen atom or the substituent, and R<SB>4</SB>expresses the hydrogen atom, an aliphatic group, an aromatic group or a heterocyclic group.
