PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of a conventional remote control function attached portable telephon that requires complicated operations because an infrared ray communication element is provided to an end of an upper case or outside of the upper casing and the remote control function is available only when the upper case and a lower casing are opened. SOLUTION: The portable telephon set is provided with an optical communication section to a connection unit used for opening/closing the upper casing and the lower casing or its vicinity, and the remote control is attained by using a display section and a second operation section on a rear side of the upper casing while keeping the upper casing and the lower casing closed. The remote control is attained without switching hands independently of a closed state or an opened state, and the operability can be much more enhanced in the multi-function performance of the portable telephon.
