摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field electron emission image display having a vacuum cabinet without a supporting structure between an anode substrate and a cathode substrate to simplify a manufacturing process, to keep an ultra-high vacuum, and to extend its lifetime. SOLUTION: The display device comprises a first substrate 23 with a display region 22 on it, an electron emitter 24 and an electron controlling unit 25 for controlling an electron emitted from the electron emitter 24 on the substrate opposed to the display region 22 of the first substrate 23 a second substrate 26 with one or more through holes 45 in the direction of thickness, and a third substrate 27 with one or more exhaust opening 46 opposed to the back of the surface on which the electron emitter 24 on the second substrate 26 is formed. Closed rooms 31 and 32 are formed between the first substrate 23 and the second substrate 26 and between the second substrate 26 and the third substrate 27, respectively, by sealing these substrates at the ends. Air in the rooms 31, and 32 is evacuated from an exhaust pipe 47 connected to the exhaust opening 46 and then the rooms are sealed.
