PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal type continuously variable transmission with a long service life having superior durability by suppressing structural change specific to a WEC and the toroidal type continuously variable transmission. SOLUTION: Fine carbide of≤0.5μm are contained at an area ratio of 8-20 mass% in an input disk 2, an output disk 4, a power roller 9, and at least one of an outer ring 16 and balls 14 composing a power roller support bearing to provide hardness of≥HRC 60 in slide contact faces 2a, 4a, 9a, and 16a by machining a raw material comprising steel wherein C is≥0.6% and≤1.3%, Si is≥0.3% and≤2.0%, Mn is≥0.3% and≤1.5%, P is≤0.03%, S is≤0.03%, Cr is≥5.0% and≤15.0%, Mo is≤0.1-1.0% in mass ratios, and the rest is Fe and unavoidable impurities into predetermined shapes, and applying quenching treatment and tempering treatment.
