PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating device for a four cycle engine capable of affording sufficient lubrication at a low cost with a small number of part items to reduce power loss. SOLUTION: The lubricating device is provided with a friction-gear type oil pump 15, wherein a pump gear 16 is arranged to be brought in slide-contact with the inner peripheral surface of a pump casing 17 formed in an engine case 4 and the pump gear 16 is driven by a crank gear 9e arranged in a crank shaft 9 to suck the oil stored in an oil pan 4b to transfer it to a discharge opening 17f side with a friction type pump unit structured of the pump gear 16 and the pump casing 17 and the transferred oil is discharged from the discharge opening 17f by a gear type pump unit structured of the pump gear 16 and the crank gear 9e.
