The apparatus (10) fastens a lock barrel (10) for the lock of a vehicle door to a mounting surface on the vehicle. The apparatus comprises a first component (11) and a second component (12) which, together, form a housing for the barrel. The first component has fastening elements of a first type for fastening it to the mounting surface. The first component also has special fastening elements of a second type for fastening the second component to the first.
