The belt (11) moves intermittently between a supply station (A) where the packaging film (12) is unwound from a reel (13), and a sealing station (B) where the package is welded along its front and rear edges and the film is cut free from the strip. A bending and folding unit (16) forms around the prod. a tube of film open along one longitudinal edge, which is closed by a welding unit (17) adjustable in height.
