PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direction recognition device for recognizing a plurality of directions by using a member for direction recognition possible to make a mobile recognize the plurality of directions.

SOLUTION: The device has an imaging part; a registered image database in which a plurality of registered images and a plurality of pieces of direction information associated with the registered images are registered; an image recognition part being input input images in which a pole 100 is photographed by the imaging part and extracting the registered images determined that they are in coincidence with or similar to the member for the direction recognition with reference to the database; and direction recognition part recognizing and outputting the directions on the basis of direction information associated with the registered images selected by the image recognition part. In the case that different N pieces of direction information are set on N divided part side face SNin which a side face of the pole 100 is divided by N in periphery directions and registered into the database, an area wider than N divided part side face SNto be an indication face indicating the direction information is set as an area ASNfor direction recognition direction to make registered images.
