<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microcontroller for preventing performance deterioration by retention of a flash memory to improve the reliability, and its control method. <P>SOLUTION: At the time of power activation or power reset cancellation, a write state of a memory cell array 11a in the flash memory 11 is detected.
