PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus equipped with a rotating brush such as an electrifying brush and a cleaning brush, capable of reducing the wear of a rotating member such as a photoreceptor by the rotating brush rotating in contact with the rotating member such as the photoreceptor. SOLUTION: In the brush electrifying device 12 using the rotating brush, the electrifying brush 12a is installed so that it is rotated in contact with the photoreceptor drum 11, and when electrifying the photoreceptor and cleaning the photoreceptor, the electrifying brush 12a is driven to be rotated in a 1st mode, and the brush 12a is slave-rotated with the rotation of the photoreceptor in the other periods as a 2nd mode. The push quantity (p) of the electrifying brush 12a to the photoreceptor drum 11 is set so as to satisfy 0.1mm≤p≤2.0mm (conditional expression 1), and the nip width (n) of the contact part is set so as to satisfy 2.0mm≤n≤10.0mm (conditional expression 2). When the accumulated value of the rotating speed of the slave-rotation of the rotating brush exceeds a prescribed value of 20,000, the brush is driven to be rotated in the 1st mode so as to recover brush bristles from disordering.
