The cockpit comprises a heating or air-conditioning system which has a housing (12) with a fan (14) arranged inside it. The housing has an air inlet opening (20) for the fan, on the side facing the interior of the automobile. A retaining part (40) is provided for the fan in the area of air inlet opening. The retaining part holds the laminar sound insulating element (30) at a distance in front of air inlet opening. The retaining part is carried by the housing, and is preferably fixed to the upper end of the housing.
