<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide mechanism for a curtain airbag which quickly inflates a curtain air bag making it unnecessary to increasing the output of an inflator. <P>SOLUTION: A guide rod 7 for guiding the rear end part of the curtain air bag 1 when the curtain airbag 1 is inflated from the roof side 2R downward is mounted on the C pillar 2C of an automobile. The rear end of the curtain air bag 1 is connected to a guide rod 7 via a connecting band 6. Between the indoor surface 2f of the C pillar 2C and the end edge 9e of a pillar garnish 9, a gap S admitting the passage of the connecting band 6 is provided. The gap S is covered with the lip part 10b of the weather strip 10 fitted to the C pillar 2C. A deformation inducing part 10c comprising a recessed groove, which guides the lip part 10b to be bent like being repelled from the gap S accompanying the passage of the connecting band 6 through the gap S, is provided to the rear surface of the lip part 10b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
