SLUDGE CERAMIC CARRIER AND ITS PRODUCTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sludge ceramic carrier having a porous structure wherein appropriate apparent specific gravity and micropores are held so as to efficiently treat not only a BOD content but nitrogen content in domestic wastewater by microorganisms as a carrier used for a combined septic tank, and adopting dredge sludge of rivers, lakes or the like as a main raw material.

SOLUTION: The dried dredge sludge of lakes is pulverized. A dry waste glass of 3 wt.pts. and conditioning water of an adequate quantity are added to the dried dredge sludge fine powder of 100 wt.pts. to be kneaded by a kneader under the water content of 40-44%. The obtained kneaded product is granulated and sized by a granulator. The obtained fine granulated bodies are further dried by a drier to the water content of 1-2%. Then they are baked in a baking furnace at a high temperature of 1,150°C of the maximum temperature to obtain a porous granular carrier.
