PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for restraining the decrease in the detection precision of toner concentration by the sticking of toner to the peripheral surface of a middle disk 130 of a disk unit. SOLUTION: An amount-of-filming detecting means for detecting the amount of sticking of toner to the peripheral surface of the middle disk 130 is provided. The amount-of-filming detecting means comprises a reflection type optical sensor 132, a not shown filming detection control section, a concentration detection control section, and the like. Then a disk unit comprising the middle disk 130 and two outer disks 131a, b for pinching it is pulled up from a liquid developer 7 stored in a second tank 115, and the amount of filming of toner adhering to the peripheral surface of the middle disk 130 is detected, based on the light reflection factor of the middle disk 130 while the liquid developer has been removed.
