PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorophor blend useful for achieving a high color-rendering index (CRI) in a mercury discharge lamp. SOLUTION: This fluorophor blend comprises at least two fluorophors selected from one group of fluorophors which absorb UV electromagnetic radiations and emit light in a visible light region. The fluorophor blend can be used for a discharge gas radiation source to produce a light source having a high color-rendering index. The fluorophor blend advantageously contains a fluorophor (Tb, Y, Lu, La, Gd)<SB>x</SB>(Al, Ga)<SB>y</SB>O<SB>12</SB>:Ce<SP>3+</SP>[(x) is about 2.8 to 3; (y) is about 4 to 5].
