PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buried pipe monitoring system for accurately determining the occurrence and state of sandblasting phenomenon caused by water leakage. SOLUTION: The buried pipe monitoring system comprises a sensor 6 for outputting a signal for indicating the monitoring result of the leaked state of fluid from a buried pipe 1, while the sensor 6 is fitted to the buried pipe 1 or is arranged close to the buried pipe 1; a determination means 9, having at least one of an occurrence state determination function for determining the occurrence state of the sandblasting phenomenon in the leaked state by referring to a signal for indicating the monitoring result, and a degree-of-influence determination function for determining the degree of influence of the sandblasting phenomenon to an adjacent buried object 2, by referring to the interval between the adjacent buried object 2, buried adjacent to the buried pipe 1 and the buried pipe 1 and the signal for indicating the monitoring result; a transmission means 7 for transmitting the determination result derived by the determining means 9 by radio; at least one transmitter 4, arranged separately one another along the longitudinal direction of the buried pipe 1; and a receiver 5 for receiving the determination result.
