PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion device capable of easily and rigidly carrying out coarse adjustment and fine adjustment of a leg length of a tripod of a camera, a stepladder, a ladder, a table, a chair, or the like. SOLUTION: The expansion device has a first leg 4a provided with a window part in one part of a hollow cylinder part 4a, and an opening in one end, a slidable second leg 5 inserted in the opening of the one end of the first leg 4a, a length adjustment member 10 connected to an inserted depth side tip 5a of the second leg 5, and housed in series with the second leg 5 in an interior of the first leg 4a, an expansion member 9 housed in the first leg 4a interior, and serially connected to the length adjustment member 10 via a slide member 11, and a locking part 6a locking the length adjustment member 10 in the window part provided in the first leg 4a.
