PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing apatite powders having various particle sizes, particle shapes and specific surface areas. SOLUTION: The method for producing the apatite powder includes a step for preparing a mixed aqueous solution containing a calcium salt and a phosphate, a step for forming an intermediate reaction product having a phase different from the apatite by reacting the calcium salt and the phosphate in the aqueous solution, a step for ageing the aqueous solution so as to synthesize the apatite powder from the intermediate reaction product, and a step for drying a slurry settled in the aqueous solution.
