PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microtome capable of restraining a holder from coming off from a holder holding body. SOLUTION: The holder holding body 33 for the microtome is formed into a rectangular shape in its top view constituted of a planar support member 34 and a clamping member 35 fixed onto the support member 34. The clamping member 35 has a substantial L-shaped cross-section formed of a fixing part 42 attached to the support member 34 and a clamping part 43 projected frontwards from the fixing part 42. The clamping part 43 is formed inclinedly to be positioned downwards toward a front side, and a clearance p between a rear end part of a support part 41 of the support member 34 and a rear end part of the clamping part 43 gets wider than a clearance q between a front of the support part 41 and a front end part of the clamping part 43, in accompaniment thereto. The maximum wall thickness r of a rear end part of the holder 32 is set to get wider than the clearance q between the front of the support part 41 and the front end part of the clamping part 43.
