摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine control device for preventing the knocking of an engine due to too early ignition at a high temperature in a low-speed and high-load condition and improving the torque. SOLUTION: The engine control device comprises operated condition detecting means 32, 33, 34 for detecting the operated condition of the engine 1, an actual compression ratio varying means 8a for varying an actual compression ratio in a combustion chamber of the engine, and a control means 31 for determining the operated condition of the engine from detection information for the operated condition and controlling the operation of the actual compression ratio varying means 8a so that the actual compression ratio is kept relatively high before the elapse of a preset time in the low-speed and high-load condition of the engine and it is lowered after the elapse of the preset time.
