PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a face skin column reducing the use of a pure log and not comparing poorly with a column formed of a pure log of a Japanese cedar or the like. SOLUTION: A plurality of tie plate like core materials 12 are stacked to form columnar laminated wood 13 integrated into an almost rectangular shape on a cross-sectional view and chamfering processing is applied to the corner parts 15 of the outer peripheral part of the laminated wood 13 to form chamfered parts 26 while decorative thin plates 21 of which the grains are actualized are spliced to the regions other than the chamfered parts 26 of the outer peripheral part of the laminated wood 13 to obtain the face skin column 10 wherein decorative thin plates 22 of which the grains are actualized are spliced to the chamfered parts 26.
