PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a throwaway type cutting tool by which stable working over an extended period of time is done by suppressing the deterioration of a tip mounting seat face provided to a holder in cutting such as grooving and threading. SOLUTION: The cutting tool is constituted as follows. A throwaway tip 1a of the cutting tool is formed into an approximately flat plate shape having two nearly triangular main faces 2 and the outer peripheral side face 7 in the thickness direction. A rake face 4 and a front flank 5 are formed in the vicinity of each corner part of the outer peripheral side face 7. A cutting edge 6 is formed to a crossing ridge line of the rake face 4 and the front flank 5. A recessed part 8 is provided to the outer peripheral side face 7 continuous to each nearly triangular side part of the main face 2. The throwaway tip 1a having the above constitution is mounted to a tip mounting seat 11 of the holder 10 having the front end protruding part 13, which is engaged with the recessed part 8 of the throwaway tip 1a, at the front end side and the rear end wall face 17, with which the outer peripheral side face 7 different from the recessed part forming face engaged with the front end protruding part 13 is brought into contact, at the rear end side.
