PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blade coater capable of carrying out the interruption of treatment accompanied by the exchange of the blade in a short time although a coating process which ensures a uniform-thick coating layer can be continuously carried out. SOLUTION: The blade coater is provided with a rotating roll 1 stuck with a coating liquid 2 for measurement, a blade 4 of which the edge touches to the peripheral surface of the roll, a blade supporting member 16 detachably supporting the blade 4, a driving means for changing a distance between the blade supporting member 16 and the peripheral surface of the roll, a pressing force sensor 18 detecting the contact pressing force of the blade 4 to the roll 1, and a controller maintaining and controlling the contact pressing force in the predetermined range by operating the driving means based on the information of the pressing force sensor 18.
