PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data providing system and method, and a communication apparatus whose operability is high by simplifying input operation by a user. SOLUTION: When connecting the communication apparatus to a prescribed server device 3 for telephone connection through a telephone line network N2 by using FOMA 1 and 1, etc. where communication carried out through a packet network N1 and the telephone line network N2, respectively, can simultaneously be performed, mail carrying URL of distributing contents corresponding to sound data provided by the server device 3 is received from the server device 3. On the basis of this URL, the prescribed contents are obtained. If the next contents are requested according to contents obtained from an i-mode server device 2, next sound data is obtained from the server device 3 and sound data reproduced presently is interrupted to carry out reproduction output of the next sound data.
