PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication method for a facsimile machine whereby the possibility of disabled identification of characters or the like in a received image can be reduced without causing a wasteful communication cost. SOLUTION: A color scanner reads an original to discriminate whether or not the original includes color data, and when the original is a color original, the facsimile machine informs an operator that the original is a color original before faxing, and prints out a binary faxing image on paper or displays the binary faxing image at the same time.
