PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a demodulation circuit capable of carrying out accurate demodulation even when there is distortion of a waveform caused by a circuit, or the effect of media characteristics or the like. SOLUTION: A wobble signal detection circuit 26 that is the demodulation circuit for detecting positional information recorded by the track wobbling of a phase modulation system on a medium adjusts the phase of the carrier wave of a wobbling signal obtained from the medium by a phase adjustment circuit 54 on the basis of a phase adjustment value which is stored in a storage part 57 and with which a highest demodulation level can be obtained. Accordingly, irrespective of the distortion of a waveform by the circuit, the characteristics of the medium or the like, demodulation is accurately carried out. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
