A source (110) of light, a reflector (120) and a light shade (130) coordinate so that a bright-dark boundary (BDB) across the whole width of light diffusion lies below a horizontal line (HL). A computer program carries out this coordination. During driving on the right, the BDB lies on the right of an optical axis (OA) less far below the HL than on the left of the OA and vice versa. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) A motor vehicle with right and left headlamps to operate according to the present invention; (b) and for a system of lights used by a motor vehicle during cornering; (c) and for a method for triggering headlamps in a system of lights used by a motor vehicle during cornering; (d) and for a computer program stored on compact disk etc. with program code for a control device to trigger headlamps in a system of lights used by a motor vehicle during cornering.
