A NOVEL METHOD OF LARYNGECTOMIAL SURGERY AND POST SURGICAL TREATMENT: LARYNX EXTIRPATION FOLLOWED BY THE FORMATION OF A FALSE VOCAL CORD

This present invention relates to novel methods in larynx cancer treatment. In particular this invention relates to the treatment of laryngectomees(patients who have undergone a laryngectomeal surgery) at the stage of restoring their vocal abilities within the mode of post-surgical treatment. The primary novelty of this method is that -- unlike its predecessors -- following a total laryngectomy that leads to a complete larynx extirpation, it implies formation of a false vocal cordon the basis of a juncture of sternosublingual muscles that creates a structure anatomically similar to the build-up and function of a natural vocal cord of a larynx. This method has particularly increasing applicability in cases of post-surgical vocal restoration of laryngectomees, as it facilitates bringing the patient's vocal ability to the level of distinct articulation.
