A process for producing silicone-containing prepolymers capable of absorbing blue light for use in the production of relatively high refractive index polymeric compositions is described herein. Polymeric compositions so produc ed are useful in the production of ophthalmic devices such as for example intraocular lenses and corneal inlays.
