<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a special process such as measuring a current or measuring a potential carried out every specified times of image forming processes can be realized by using only a small memory region and a small number of writing times as little as possible. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a control counter value updating means functioning in such a manner that when the value obtained by a counter value calculating means reaches equal to or larger than the sum of the value stored by a control counter recording means and a specified value, the counter value obtained by the counter value calculating means is memorized in a non-volatile memory means 2 by the control counter recording means.
