<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron system cathode active material and its manufacturing method, with a large initial discharge capacity. <P>SOLUTION: The cathode active material comprises 2L type ferrihydrite with the number of lamination in a c-axis direction of an octahedron consisting of Fe and O and/or OH of 3 to 50. The cathode active material with an initial discharge capacity of 270 to 1,000 mAh/g at 1.0 to 4.1 V is obtained by adding acid to slurry containing hydrotalcite compound consisting of iron, Li, and one ore more elements selected from alkaline earth metals and dissolving an element other than iron into it at pH 2.6 to 6.0. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
