PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of confirming easily an objective spot, as a size and a shape of the spot is difficult to be controlled because the spot of a protein array is formed in once dropping, in a method using a contact pin, and as a position of the spot is very difficult to be specified although the fine spot is able to be formed, in a method using an ink jet method, in the prior art. SOLUTION: At least one of the shapes of the spots comprising a probe containing a protein formed on a solid phase surface is brought into a noncircular shape. A symbol, a binary code, a character and a numeral can be used as the noncircular shape to impart positional information or the like. When the protein array is formed by an ink jet system, the spot containing the noncircular shape of protein is easily formed with an optional shape in an optional position.
