INDUCTION COUPLED VARIABLE NOZZLE

A turbofan nacelle (16) includes forward and aft cowls (58, 60) adjoining at a joint (62), and including an exhaust duct (36) having a main outlet (46) for discharging exhaust (32). A variable nozzle (38) surrounds the exhaust duct (36) and includes a secondary outlet (52) around the main outlet (46). A thrust reverser (64) bridges the forward and aft cowls (58, 60) upstream fro m the variable nozzle (38). The variable nozzle (38) is inductively powered an d controlled across the closed joint (62), and is uncoupled inductively from t he forward cowl (56) when the joint (62) is open.
