<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the fluctuation of the velocity of a belt due to the sinking of a driving gear for a belt-like image carrier unit, irrespective of load fluctuation, to accurately position a vertical direction, and to prevent the deterioration of image quality. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus provided with the belt-like image carrier unit 1 wherein an image carrier 3 constituted of an endless belt is rotated while being stretched to be wound between a driving roller 7 and a stretching member 8, and for forming the image by forming a toner image on the image carrier 3, thereafter, transferring the toner image to the recording medium, a drive transmission gear 6 for transmitting the drive to the driving gear 5 for a driving roller 7 is disposed on the main body frame 9 side in a position where a direction of a drive reaction force of the gear 6 against the gear 5 for the roller 7 aligns with the advancing direction of the image carrier 3, alternatively, the drive transmission gear 6 is disposed in a position where a line linking between the shaft of the driving gear 5 and the shaft of the drive transmission gear 6 becomes nearly vertical to the major axis direction of the belt-like image carrier unit 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
