PICTURE PROCESSING METHOD, IMAGE PROCESSOR, IMAGE PROCESSING PROGRAM, AND IMAGE STRUCTURE PROFILE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance independence of image processing from the device regardless of the type of an input device or an output device in case of open system image processing dealing with a plurality of types of input device or output device, and to output a reproduced image of identical image structure stably from the same original image.

SOLUTION: Image structure profiles 251 and 253 representative of conversion characteristics of an image structure including characteristics dependent on the gray level are acquired. A sharpness engine 260 performs sharpness processing based on the characteristics dependent on the gray level represented by the image structure profiles 251 and 253.
