PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a desirable valve lift quantity even if a cam shaft is tilted in a valve system for a multi-cylinder engine wherein tilting angle of the cam shaft against the center line of a cylinder is different when adjusting a valve head clearance between a locker arm and when operating the valve in the valve opening direction with the locker arm to open the valve in one of an intake valve and an exhaust valve. SOLUTION: Profile of a valve driving part of valve system cams 32 and 33 corresponding to one valve, of which tilting angle against the cylinder center line CL of a cam shaft 31 when adjusting a valve head clearance is different from that when operating to open the valve, and profile of the valve driving part of the valve system cams 32 and 33 corresponding to the valve, of which tilting angle against the cylinder center line CL of the cam shaft 31 when adjusting the valve head clearance is the same with that when opening the valve, are set different from each other so that both the intake valves 18 or both the exhaust valves 19 has the same valve lift quantity.
