PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a back end of an object to be recorded, in a liquid injection apparatus for performing recording by emitting a jet of liquid to the object to be recorded. SOLUTION: This liquid injection apparatus is equipped with: a liquid injection head 44 with a plurality of nozzles for emitting the jet of the liquid to the object to be recorded; a carrying part for carrying the object to be recorded; a main detection part which is provided on an upstream side with respect to a liquid injection area, so as to detect the back end of the object to be recorded, carried by the carrying part; a dark-color liquid absorbent 110 which is provided below the object to be recorded, so as to absorb the liquid which does not adhere to the object to be recorded; an auxiliary detection part 450 which scans the liquid injection area in such a manner as to be integrated with the head 44, so as to detect the back end of the object to be recorded, in the liquid injection area; and a control part for controlling the plurality of nozzles 440, which performs the recording by emitting the jet of the liquid to a part which has already been scanned by the auxiliary detection part, without emitting the jet of the liquid to a part which is not scanned by the auxiliary detection part, at the back end of the body to be recorded, when the carrying part carries the object to be recorded, by a predetermined distance, after the main detection part detects the back end of the object to be recorded.
