PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for dividing a cylindrical body made of ceramics capable of giving a divided face with a rugged shape not so as to slip in the axial direction when the divided faces are adhered again and a shape of a notched part thereof. SOLUTION: The method for dividing the cylindrical body made of ceramics comprises forming a first and a second notched part at a position face to face each other in the radial direction at the inside peripheral surface of the cylindrical body and then loading a compressing load in the radius direction to divide it along the first and the second notched part. Three of notched part deviated to the circumferential direction from the edge part of the cylindrical body at the first notched part and the second notched part are formed, at the dividing, by propagating a crack from the deviated notch, a concave part 12 or a convex part 10 with a length 8 are formed at the divided face Q as the above.
