<p>The resilient plastic sole 1 (Fig. 1, Figs. not shown) of a studded sports shoe has in the shank zone an integral projection protruding from the tread side, the projection extending in the longitudinal direction of the sole but finishing inwardly of the edges thereof. An area 6 between the shank area and the rearmost studs 9 on the forepart is of greater flexibility than the shank area to facilitate bending. The sole shown has a thin part 2 including portions 13, 14, 15, and a thickened, reinforcing part 3 with transverse recesses 6 and 7. The recesses may be provided on the outer surface of the sole, as shown, or on the inner surface, or on both surfaces, and may be replaced by transverse grooves. The insole 16, shown in Fig. 2, is provided with apertures 17, 18, filled with cushioning material 19, in alignment with recesses 6, 7. Alternatively the aperture 18 may extend into the shank area, as in Fig. 3, or the apertures 17, 18 may be replaced by recesses 20, 21, Fig. 4.</p> |
