<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic dispersion compensation device capable of automatically compensating dispersion by measuring the accurate amount of compensation dispersion by a simple constitution. <P>SOLUTION: A modulator 2 modulates light components of two respective wavelengths λ1, λN+1 for measuring dispersion by using a sine wave and inputs the modulated light components to the same port of an optical multiplexer 3, which inputs multiplexed light to an optical fiber 4. An optical demultiplexer 6 demultiplexes light coming through the optical fiber 4 and outputs the light components of two wavelengths inputted to the same port from the same port again. Filters 7 extracts the light components of the respective wavelengths λ1, λN+1, photoelectric converters 8 convert the extracted signals into electric signals, and a delay measuring circuit 9 compares relative phases of the electric signals and measures a delay difference. A suitable amount of compensation dispersion is determined from the delay difference to control the dispersion value of a variable dispersion compensator 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
