<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize information of documents, visiting cards, or the like taken in as image information by a scanner function mounted on a mouse, as character information to handle this information in the same manner as character information inputted from an input device like a keyboard. <P>SOLUTION: An optical mouse 1 provided with a light emission part 10 being a light source and a light receiving part 11 like a CCD line sensor, in a front end thereof is provided with; optical position detection means (16 and 17) which detect a position on the basis of input information from the light receiving part 11; image information detection means (12 and 13) which radiate output light emitted from the light emitting part 10 to a two-dimensional object 2 and input the reflected light to the light receiving part 11 and detect information on the object as image information in accordance with the input information; and a character recognition means 13 which analyzes detected image information and recognizes character information, and a switching means is provided to perform switching between the optical position detection means and the image information detection means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
