PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eddy current reduction gear which is reduced in size and weight while braking efficiency is maintained. SOLUTION: (1) The eddy current reduction gear of disc type has a spring that expands/contracts almost parallel to the moving direction of a holding member between the holding member and a guide tube so that the repulsive force of the spring is applied to the holding member in the direction the holding member comes away from the braking disc. (2) An eddy current reduction gear of the same type has a back plate at the guide tube, and comprises a guide rod slidable through the back plate and the holding member and a spring wound on it, with a guide holding plate on one end of the guide rod while a spring presser plate on the other end. The spring expands/contracts almost parallel to the moving direction of the holding member, and the repulsive force of the spring is applied in the direction the holding member comes away from the brake disc through the guide rod between the spring presser plate and the back plate of the guide tube.
