PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set color braking to an allowable range without increasing noise and shortening the life of a motor even when an input signal having different frequency of a vertical synchronizing signal is entered. SOLUTION: In a color wheel motor control part 14 for controlling the rotational speed of a color wheel 15 in accordance with the frequency of a vertical synchronizing signal in an input signal, the rotational speed of the color wheel 15 is set by multiplying the frequency of the vertical synchronizing signal by a coefficient which is differnt in each vertical synchronizing signal frequency of the input signal.
