PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy-to-manufacture building material having lower cost and improved design quality. SOLUTION: A pattern 5 is printed on the reverse of a first transparent or translucent film 4 or a second film 6 on which the pattern 5 is printed is pasted thereon. The a decorative groove 7 is formed in the surface of the first film 4, and a decorative sheet 3 to which a coating 8 is applied is formed on the decorative groove 7 and pasted on the surface of a base material 2. The building material 1 can be manufactured simply by forming the decorative groove 7 and applying the coating 8 to the decorative groove 7 at the stage of manufacturing the decorative sheet 3 and then pasting the decorative sheet 3 on the base material 2. Thus, the building material 1 is easily manufactured at lower cost. A sense of unevenness is obtained by the decorative groove 7 and the design quality is improved by color and pattern contrast between the pattern 5 on the reverse of the first film 4 or on the surface of the second film and the coating 8 applied to the decorative groove 7 in the surface of the first film 4.
