The invention relates to a butterfly valve comprising a flat multiperforated disc, which, compared to a standard butterfly valve comprising an unperforated disc, has a lower cavitation index. According to the invention, in small opening angles, where standard butterfly valves cannot function, the inventive disc behaves as a multiperforated restriction plate with a very low cavitation index owing to the uniform distribution of the flow. As a result, butterfly valves comprising a flat multiperforated disc have a greater control range than those with an unperforated disc without vibrations or noise being produced in the tube.
