The invention relates to a pencil-type glow plug for a combustion engine, essentially comprised of a plug housing and of a connecting pin, which is placed inside the plug housing, and relates to a glow pencil that can brought into contact with the connecting pin. The glow pencil (3) has pressure-dependent electrical properties and can be used as a pressure sensor, whereby the deformation of the glow pencil (3) due to pressure can be detected by a measuring device (11).
