PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soft magnetic material having desired magnetic characteristics, and to provide a method of manufacturing the material. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the soft magnetic material includes a step of forming a molding by molding a plurality of composite magnetic particles, respectively, composed of metallic magnetic particles, and insulating coating films coating the surfaces of the magnetic particles; and a step of heat-treating the molded body at a temperature of 400-900°C.
