PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable luminescent display having excellent image quality, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: Layered structures are formed in a sealing material forming region, and the layered structures in the lower part of the sealing material are made identical to uniform their heights. Accordingly, no level difference is formed in the sealing material forming region, the sealing material forming region is sealed with excellent sealing performance, and the substrate interval between an element substrate and a substrate facing it is uniformed.
