PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector by which connection can be simply and easily executed without using a special tool and further the connection of optical fibers with UV coating can be executed without deteriorating transmission characteristics. SOLUTION: The optical connector comprises: an optical connector cabinet having an insertion port for inserting an optical fiber strand; a cylindrical tube which is arranged at the insertion port and which holds the inserted optical fiber strand at a predetermined position; a pressing member which presses a top end part of the optical fiber strand inserted through a window section dug in the cylindrical tube to an inner wall of the cylindrical tube; a pressing spring which presses the pressing member to the inner wall of the cylindrical tube by repulsion when the button is released; and the button which diminishes repulsion of the pressing spring when it is pushed and which is returned to a home position by repulsion of the pressing spring when it is released.
