PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary angle detector without problems caused by errors in index signals due to influence of an adjacent magnetic rotary angle generation part within the angle range of an index magnetic flux density detecting element (such as a Hall element embedded in a Hall IC for generating an index signal) against an index non-magnetic part. SOLUTION: A magnetic angle of a north/south poles magnetic part of an index magnetic partβis set to become larger than a magnetic angle of a north/South poles magnetic part of a rotary angle magnetic partα, and a south pole magnetic part of the index magnetic partβis overlapped on a north pole magnetic part of the rotary angle magnetic partα. Due to the overlap, when an index Hall IC faces to an index non-magnetic partβ', a magnetic flux of the north pole applied to the index Hall IC by the north pole magnetic part of the rotary angle magnetic partαcan be neutralized by a magnetic flux of the south pole magnetic part of the index magnetic partβ, and thereby no index signal is generated by the index Hall IC.
